"Teacher's Rule" - 3 Girl JAM Challenge: Kraft + Ribbon

Hey there Crafty Blends and 3 Girl JAM-ers
Today is my day to post as a
DT Member with 3 Girl JAM

I created a fun Back to School Card for a Teacher!

The current challenge at the 3 Girl JAM Challenge Blog is:

Kraft w/Ribbon
That's right we want to see ALL those awesome projects using Kraft card stock and ribbon!!!!
(pssst....play along to win an awesome prize from 3 Girl JAM)

I used a Kraft Envelope and some Kraft Card Stock.
I recently grabbed up some fun bargains at  Unity Stamp Company (aka "My Favorite Stamp Company") and couldn't wait to get inky with these sweet set called Jen girl.
She is just one of the adorable angieGirl stamps available at Unity and created by artist
Angie Blom.

I love using my 3 Girl JAM Crinkle Ribbon as a closure on my altered journals and this influenced my decision to use it here...

I am a huge fan of Paper Piecing and wanted to try some of my very neglected paper stacks.
I decided to use Greens and Golds/Yellows from my stash of 3 Girl JAM Crinkle Ribbon since those are our School Colors here in Amherst, OH.

I won't bore you with too many details, but if you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a comment here and I would love to stop by and visit your blog, too.

This took lots and lots of fussy cutting, a little bit of Zig Glue, and some TH Distress Inks to finish it.

I am happy that it turned out as I envisioned it.
I just hope my sweet daughter's Kindergarten Teacher loves it on their First Day of School next week, too.

And, would it be a post from me if you didn't see Mini Bows and Pleating on my project, right???

LOL
I used the 3 Girl JAM Bow Maker

to make the bow on the card and the fun bow in the Teacher's Hair

Stop by 3 Girl JAM to place an order for this Beautiful Ribbon - You won't be sorry to have it in your Hands as you Create!

If you need more inspiration, be sure to peek back at all the Work the DT Members have been sharing since the start of the challenge!
They are Top of the Class!

B*E*L*I*E*V*E in the Magic of Disney

****be sure to join in the fun for the 400 follower celebration
here at my blog that ends on May 18, 2012!!!!****

While playing catch up today after all of the
fun events taking place
during National Scrapbooking Day,
I came across an awesome
They are hosting a layout challenge
for a great cause!!!

I wanted to stay away from my typical girly bling and flowers to be able
to join in the fun at the Unity - Ippity Challenge, too.

Since masculine theme is difficult for me, go figure with 4 dear daughters and 1 sweet son in the house, I stuck with Primary Colors.

Here is my finished layout:
For the upper sentiment (inside the Polaroid shaped mask) I used
I stamped it onto the navy blue cs using VersaMagic, Cloud White
then heat embossed using Whispers Opaqu.

The camera image was stamped using
I stamped the image onto Quick Quotes - Cherry Truffle dp
using TH Barn Door then heat embossed using a denim
embossing powder.  Before applying it to the LO, I stamped
a shadow image using the same Barn Door ink pad directly onto the white cs.

The sentiment on the banner tag was stamped using the Unity/Simple Stories ~ Snapshots Itty Bitty as well.  I used  VersaMagic, Cloud White
then heat embossed using Whispers Opaque.

I created a Mickey design using my circle round punch and two small circle die cuts
from my stash.  I used it first to mask my layout while spraying it with my handmade
glimmer mist.  Then when finished I used it as an embellishment.  I also dripped some fun primary colors of alcohol ink onto the page as well.

The notebook stamp inside the bottom Mickey shape, is from the Ippity Stamp Book It!
I wanted it to appear like a journaling spot for the family who
receives the layout from Spellbinders.

I also wanted to challenge myself to use the sketch

  • Create a 12 x 12 scrapbook layout with no photos on the page, just the mats to adhere photos later.
  • Post a photo of your layout on our new Facebook Contest Page to get people into the spirit... then send the original layout by mail to: Spellbinder Paper Arts, Attn: Terre Fry 1125 W. Pinnacle Peak Road, Bldg 3, Suite 124, Phoenix, AZ 85027
  • All Layouts are to be given to Crops of Luv™.  Crops of Luv™ creates scrapbooks for critically ill children and their families. Most of these albums are used to commemorate trips through the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Since it's inception in 2009... Crops of Luv™ has created over 250 albums... all with help of volunteers. Now it's our turn to volunteer.
Thanks for stopping by
and be sure to join in the fun for the 400 follower celebration

Smile! It Suits You!! Chick Challenge #26

 Happy Sunday Evening Blends!

Be sure to scroll down to Hop with Softpencil Studios Blog Hop
and
just in case you missed any previous posts!!

Now, what did I get done today...lots of DT assignments, closed out some open ended projects,
house cleaning, a walk to the train depot with the DH and Kids and, yes and, I am jamming to some
fun retro songs on Pandora.  It is turning out to be a
fantastic Sunday.
I hope you are as blessed to be enjoying this Day!

I knew when I saw the new sketch over at Chick Challenges #26, that I just had
to get out my new Chevron Packing Tape to use on my card.

I chose to work with the color theme at Play Date Cafe, too.

The photo at PDCC has these adorable bathing suits, which prompted me
by Jillibean Soup

and for the sketch and a requirement for the Little Scrap Pieces, I used a flower stamp
AND
then just placed my sentiment inside a 2" yellow circle (cut with my punch)

I am entering the Chick Challenge #26
Outlawz GC40912 - Name Yourself Day (I used J-Jillibean Soup)

to play with it.  It really did CHALLENGE me to try this fold though.  All worth it in the end.
I grabbed some of my Unity Stamps, my Cherry Truffle paper by QQ, and started playing.
I knew I wanted to work on a masculine card since I don't do many of those types of projects.
I hope you enjoy my creation and gladly welcome any
comments you may want to leave.
I DO LOVE TO READ COMMENTS!

Thanks a Bunch using Unity Stamps

Well, I had a productive 2 hours of crafty time tonight.  Lance got all of the kids
ready and took them to visit his Mom for a few hours.  I had the whole house to myself.
I was able to play with my Unity Stamps and you know
how HAPPY that makes me.
So I grabbed some paper scraps, My Unity Stamps,
and some Kraft paper and got started.
I embossed a few of the panels using my tree folder and my argyle folder.  I added some bronze stickles to the bicycle and the center of the flower.  I added a sun charm, to add some charm...he he he, to the entire project.  I love how it synced with the rest of the elements.  The pink flower is by Recollections.  All ink was TH Vintage Photo and heat embossed with the same tone of embossing powder.  The blue panel was punched using my new (deeply discounted) EK success edge punch.
The purple butterfly was created by my BFF Teresa, who by the way, can now be found at her blog ***YIPPEE**** skybluepink creations!!!
She embossed the purple butterfly a while ago using the Unity stamps mentioned below and left a few of the finished cutie pies for me to use in the future.
Teresa created her first blog post on Thursday and a little birdie (he he he) told me that she is preparing her second post this evening.  Yay!!!  Can you tell I am excited.
Please stop by and show her some loving support.  She really is quite talented and
her creations are amazing!!!!

I used Kraft as my base and for my mounting cs.  I used the following stamp sets to
ink up the Tree, Bicycle, Birds, circular sentiment tag, and Butterfly:
and

I am diligently creating cards to help out my sweet friend Chris.  She is hosting a is a Card Challenge  at her blog: Scrappin' with Chriss and Lou to raise funds for Relay for Life
and
she is very generously donating a fabulous prize to one lucky participant
Please consider joining in to contribute!
I also participated in the Cricut Creative Cutter Room DT Thursday Hop and Challenge ~ Let's Hop Strolling through the Park.  It was fun to play
the "scavenger hunt" while getting some awesome inspiration
from the fabulous ladies on the CCCR Design Team.  The Hop had some hidden
elements that you needed to find along the way in order to play
along in the challenge.  Go HOP now and find out how
you can play along!!!
and the Crafter's Cafe - Monday things with Wings challenge inspired me to use the the birds and butterfly on my card.  Spring is truly my favorite season to wait for because of the magical
things that happen in nature during this time.
It never ceases to amaze
me how a joyful bud of a flower or a crisp clean breeze can
invigorate the senses and make you feel so happy inside.  I love to Welcome Spring
and with this card, I feel that I have accomplished that.   I will enter my project into the Twisted Thursday - Spring Colors challenge at the Outlawz,
DL Art - Thankful Thursday - Happy Spring (show some flowers), and
The fun spring elements of my card also fits into the
I wanted to use Kraft on my card and play along with this week's Make It Monday - AG Challenge at The Kraft Journal
I was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #233

I am so happy to have you stopping by today
and I really
love all of your sweet
comments.
Until next time . . . .

CSDivas' "Spring Fling" Blog Hop 2012 {Day 2}

Spring Fling Blog Hop!!  March 12th to 14th
Welcome to Day 2 of the Hop
Be sure to go HERE if you missed Day 1

It’s time to celebrate SPRING!!  So come hop along with us
For 3 days as we share our Spring projects.  The Divas have prepared
a wide range of projects that encompass all things SPRING!

There will be one prize offered to one random person.  To be eligible
you MUST leave a comment on each and every Diva’s blog on all three days,
and on each daily post here at CSD, letting us know that you have commented
on each of the blogs.
 GRAND PRIZE

While you are hopping along, you may find that a Diva may be offering
a prize on their own personal blog as well.  So you definitely won’t want to
skip over anyone.
*************
Did you get a chance to see all the lovely projects the Divas DT created yesterday?
Great inspiration from them all!
*************
So, yesterday I talked about the lovely blooms that offer a cheeriness to your mood in spring time.  I also love all the bright colors that envelope our idea of Spring.  So, I just had to play with the March 6th Color Challenge at the Outlawz and use this color palette...(and add a rosette)
Isn't that just screaming SPRING IS HERE!!!!???!!!!

So, I gathered some random dp from a stack I received as Blog Candy a little while ago.  It is a small stack by Rowena Stott.  I grabbed my new Unity Ippity Itty Bitty - fabulous girl, and started paper piecing.  I used some of the papers from the Quick Quotes Cherry Truffle stack for my rosette and added a pretty pink button.  I grabbed some tulle from my stash, Harvest Orange 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon and started to put it all together.

My sweet daughter Ariana, will be turning 4 years old on April 3rd and she is the epitome of a girly girl.  She will really enjoy this sweet birthday card.  She is the only person in our household who celebrates a Spring Birthday.  It was fun putting this all together.  Did I mention, I really love this color palette? LOL!

I also chose to work with the sketch from the current Chick Challenge #21

FUN! ! ! !

I will be entering this into a few other challenges to, since they inspired me to create!!!
It doesn't get much girly than dresses and flowers and pretty ribbon, right? LOL
Image and sentiment by Unity
Tulle and Harvest Orange 3Girl JAM ribbon
1 - Rosette, 2 - roses from I Am Roses, 1- button
3 dp all from The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady paper stack (used on dresses)

here is a close up of the paper pieced dresses

For my blog candy, I will offer up some 'random' Unity Stamps to one lucky follower and commenter.  Unfortunately, due to personal finances right now and the high prices of international shipping, I will only be able to mail the candy to a winner in the US or Canada.  I really hate to do this, because I have a lot of lucky Blends that live over seas.  I have never not included them, and have been able to ship to as far as India in the past.   But, the time will come when I am offering candy again (some time in the future) where you will ALL be included, once again.  I hope you can understand.

To win, be sure to follow my blog and stop back all three days for the hop and leave a comment on each day's post.

My 1st Mixed Media Tag

I have a permanent smile right now from all the fun I had creating this next project to share with all of you.
I have admired all of the beautiful Mixed Media projects I have seen over the course of the last year of blogging and was excited to try a bit of it for myself.
First:  I sprayed my Perfect Pearl Mist directly onto the Kraft tag and dried it with my heating tool.
Then I used my homemade mixture of Vermillion glimmer mist.
For the next step, I randomly stamped some flowers onto the tag using Vintage Photo ink.  After that, I randomly stamped the sentiment onto the tag using the same ink.  I grabbed a few paper scraps from  my stash and inked up the little girl with her umbrella onto cream texture cs, diagonal stripe dp, and a yellow flower pattern dp.  I cut all the pieces out to paper piece together onto the cream cs.
I stamped the sentiment onto cream cs using Vintage Photo, then added the embossing powder and heat set it.  I fussy cut around the sentiment and then spritzed it with some homemade green glimmer mist.  I prepped my paints and added a few roses and lace directly to the tag.
I placed foam squares behind the girl for added dimension.
I trimmed the umbrella with glossy accents, highlighted her boots with a black gel pen, handpainted the grass, used orange watercolors to paint the flower on the sentiment tag, and added all the embellishments to finish it off.

I was inspired by and will enter the following challenges . . . .
(Lace, Orange button and roses, Vermillion ink, Embossing powder)
Anything Goes - Eyes Down for Bingo (charms, choice, flowers)

Items used include:
Kraft tag
Perfect Pearls Mist
Handmade glimmer mists (Vermillion and Green)
Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Black)
Embossing Powder (Vintage Photo)
Paper Piecing using several dp
Butter Cream Twine from The Twinery
Watercolors (orange and green)
Roses from I Am Roses
Charm and Button from stash
Lace trim
Butterfly die cut from Nataliya
Glossy Accents
Black gel pen
