Finished the Altered Memo Board....take a peek! :)

I was really under the wire to get this challenge in during the fun
Pink By Design
2 year Anniversary Celebration
on Saturday.
It was left a bit "unfinished"
in my last post.

Originally, I only left the Altered Memo Board
as you see here . . .
(Directions and Product Descriptions are at
the bottom of this post!)

Kenzie really wanted to add some buttons in spots to spruce it up.
I personally wanted to fix the spots that didn't
ink well,
and she said to leave it alone.
She liked the "abstract" and "distressed" look I suppose!

The more she looked at it, she wasn't real happy with how
sparkly it turned out.
She isn't much into Glitter...
I know, and she is MY DAUGHTER?  LOL!

That's alright though.  I am sure my Step Daughter, who is 9 years old,
will adore a sparkly memo board for her room.

Kenzie picked out some fun buttons from my stash
and I plugged in my hot glue gun.
 I am actually surprised
how much they really added to the entire project.

Here is the finished Memo Board...

WHAT DO YOU THINK???

Should I make some more?

I bought a lot of these plain black Memo Board
last Fall  during a fun
Clearance Sale
with the intention to alter them somehow.

Any suggestions for a certain color or theme???
 Enlighten Me Please Blends!!!

 DESCRIPTION AND PRODUCTS
I first spray painted with
Krylon Glitter Blast spray paint (Twilight Sky),
which I was fortunate to win
during a
Glitter Blast Tuesday with Mark Montano
several months ago.
 While it was drying,
I inked up the Small Hexagons Stamp by Pink By Design
using VersaMagic - Cloud White.
I stamped directly onto the surface
of both pencil holders.
I then used my Opaque embossing powder over the ink,
and heat embossed.
The paint dried, and my daughter and I were struggling to
get the holders screwed back
into the memo board....to meet the challenge deadline....with only 5 minutes
left to spare.
LOL . . . .Just under the wire.

Challenge #3 - Pink By Design PARTY

Still trying to craft like a maniac
to play along
in the super fun
2nd Annivrsary Party Challenges.

The stamps I used
(apple and crayons)
are from the Pink By Design
 School is Cool set

I used my embossing borders
for the ruler on the front
and my stars for the layer inside the card.

Hope you like it!

Challenge #2 - Pink By Design 2nd Year Anniversary PARTY

OK,
So I made some good use out of my dry time
on Challenge #1
and got busy working on a Christmas Card
I started by inking the Small Hexagons
(my favorite PBD Stamp thus far...)
using 3 ink shades:
TH Distress -forest moss-
TH Distress -barn door-
Quick Quotes - Green with Envy

The bottom layer is the exact size of the stamp
and then the middle and top layers were trimmed to
give a layered effect.

The sentiment inside the circle tag, is from the Mini Wrappers stamp set.
I used a circle stamp from my jillibean Dutch Mustard Soup set by Unity Stamp Co.
to give a border around the sentiment.
I then punched it out using my 2" round punch.
The red twine is from doodlebug designs and
the green twine is from K Andrew.

I also used some 3D Foam Squares for each layer
to give a nice touch of dimension!

The base card stock is Core'dinations Pearl (cream color)

Here's The Story - 3 Girl JAM DT Day

Hello Crafty Blends
I hope you have stuck with
me through my irregular
absence
and are ready
to see my next
DT project for 3 Girl JAM!

I grabbed all of my
3 Girl JAM goodies
and couldn't decide
whether to use

So.....
I used THEM ALL on my layout!!!

I decided to do a fun Layout with a Boyish color scheme (blues and browns)
since I don't dabble too much
with masculine projects.
I have some very fun baby pictures of Lance Jr.
that I will have to hunt for
to put in this layout,
but at least the layout is ready whenever I do find them.

I started by adding the Sky Blue twine to my photo mats
so it could serve as Photo Corners
to hold the pics in place.

Then I pleated the adhesive Canvas Border below the mats
using a Core'dinations border strip as my backing.
After adhering this together, I used an EK success punch to create
the trimmed edge.

I inked the edges of my mats using a Studio G brown
to highlight the edges between the dp and the brown cs.

I used several stamps from my new
Ippity by Unity set
I received from the sweet Heather Flaherty!
called Life's Little Moments.

For the round date and journaling stamp, I inked it using TH
Vintage Photo, then adhered it to another piece of cs for support.
I then looped my Baby Boy Blue Crinkle Ribbon
and glued it using Tacky Glue to the back.  I added a 3rd circle
piece of card stock after this.

I used the same TH ink for the journaling box in the upper left corner, but
stamped the sentiment, "Here's the Story"
using Versa Magik - Sea Breeze.
The blue rectangle Labels are by Pebbles Inc.
The corsage pin was made me moiee'
and the faux stitching around the borders were created
using a Whisper Strokes - Dual Tip Watercolor Marker

Here is the full view of the completed Layout!

WYEGW - Would You Ever Guess Wednesday

Hello Crafty Blends
Today is the Fabulous

This is my first WYEGW project and post
since joining the Design Team
at My Cricut Craft Room.

I really enjoyed the challenge of
thinking about what to do with your  Cricut Cartridges
that you may not have ever tried before.
The idea behind WYEGW, is to use any features
WITHOUT using the Main Feature Cut key!
Interesting, HUH?

I grabbed my Create-A-Critter
cartridge because I knew it had a lot of
fun accessories
and
started looking through the handbook.

I found the fun Palm Tree
under the Dino Main Cut.
I cut the tree at 4".

I used Brown CS by Recollections for the first layer and
I used a neon green paper from my BG lauderdale 6x6 stack
for the palm leaves

I then came across the sentiment, just chillin',
under the Penguin Main Cut.
I cut the sentiment at 2"

I used a fun tropical flower paper  for the first layer and
the same neon green (from the tree), from my BG lauderdale 6x6 stack
for the top layer.

I also grabbed some fun adhesive backed
textured border strips (taupe in color) and tore them
so it appeared as sand.
I didn't much care for the white inner layer
so I spritzed it with some brown Shimmerz
to darken the torn edge.

I then spritzed my leaves and the chillin' with some
of my handmade green glimmer mist.
After letting it dry, I then started to piece all my elements together.
I felt the tree needed a little more 'pizazz'
so I grabbed my embossing folders.
I used my TH Sizzix Burlap on the Tree Trunk
and I used the Darice Bark/Tree on the Palm Leaves.
I inked up the edges of my green papers using my
Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalk Ink (green)
and a finger dauber.

I wanted the sentiment to stand out and not match
the palm leaves exactly, so I added more
pigments to my glimmer mist
and sprayed one more time.

Now, it needed one...more...element . . .TWINE!
I grabbed up all my twine and chose to
use some Cappucino  Twinery Twine
to roll and make coconuts for my Palm Tree.

Other supplies:
Aqua Recollections CS (base)
BG lauderdale (blue dots background dp)
Tim Holtz Distress Tool
Zig Pens
Scissors
Glu Glider Pro Adhesive Gun
3D Foam Adhesive (roll)
Zots (small)

I needed to distress the edges of my
backdrop dp . . so I grabbed my TH distress tool.

When it comes to foam adhesive,
can you ever really have too much...LOL

My 1st DT Project for Card Creating Tuesday

Hey there sweet Blends.  Today I get to share

The inside chipboard sticker (sentiment) is by Making Memories

I started with some fabulous BoBunny - Color Me Silly Card Stock
AC - Damask Card Stock in Orange
and Yellow and Blue Textured Card Stock by  Darice

I cut the party hat from the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge -5"

After assembling the party hat, I sprayed a light coat
of Perfect Pearls Mists
over the top and let it dry

I distressed all the edges of my square layers before applying
Tim Holtz - Distress Ink

using my finger dauber

I embossed the left side on the front and
the right portion on the inside
of my card using the

daubers work perfect for this!!!

♪ Showcase at the Shaque ♪ 13 Q&A's on the 13th w/ July's Guest: Riti Poddar

I am ecstatic to bring you a new monthly series here at my blog!!!

can be a regular segment here at The Shaque.
It will be a great way to learn more about
the talented people who envelope all of Blog Land

On the 13th of each month, I will be inviting a Guest to SHOWCASE!
There will be a series of 13 questions that they will answer in hopes to make new connections
across Cyber Space and Blog Land
as well as teach you a few fun facts about themselves
that you may not know.

For my July guest, I am honored to have the Wonderful Crafter, Riti Poddar!

Please join me in Welcoming Riti and leaving her some love!!!
1. What’s your name?
Hi Friends I’m Riti Poddar & My friends call me Ritz, Ritzie!!

2. What is the name and link of your blog?  How long have you been blogging?
Blog Name : A Lil Piece of Heaven….a place where scrap happens.
‘Heaven’ refers to my Craft Room. It’s  my Fav. place in my Home. June

3. What is your favorite craft to work with (type, technique, style)?
I enjoy all sorts of paper crafts like Cardmaking, Scrapbooking, Mini
Albums & Altering items.

4. Do you have other hobbies?
I love to Sing, write poems and photography !

5. How did you get started in the Craft World?
I started crafting since childhood. My mum often tells me that I was
born with a Paintbrush, scissor & glue in my hand. ROFL !! She tells
me that I was always up to creating something or the other, and give
away handmade cards, altered items as gifts to Friends & Family !!

6. Where are you from?
I’m from West Bengal, Kolkata - the Eastern Part of India.

7. If you could give a tip to a new crafter/blogger, what would it be?
For the New Crafters -  Never be scared of experimenting with your
supplies. I learnt most of the techniques & variations just by
experimenting on my own rather than following others & their
techniques. And yeah you never know when you might just discover
something wonderful. So make full use of your craft supplies & have
fun discovering new ideas & effects.
For the New Bloggers – The Best place to get tonnes & tonnes of ideas,

being one. I am thoroughly “ Deeeeeep in Love with Unity Stamps”.
I live in a Big Joint Family and I work with my Husband
Sourav ( he supplies medical equipment) full time  and find it really
difficult to give time to my crafting, but I do try & make the most of
whatever little time I get to craft.

10. What are your future ambitions?
To be able to help others in every way I can !!

11. What challenges have you faced, but conquered in crafting?
Time, Time & Time in this hectic life, all I need for crafting is
Time. But I also feel happy about squeezing in a little crafty moment
every now & then !!

12.  When told you would be interviewed for this Guest Post, what question were you hoping to be asked?
What’s your favorite place to shop for Craft Supplies ??

13.  What answer would you give to the unasked question?
In India, and we DO NOT have craft stores like they have in countries
like  USA, UK, AUSTRALIA,SINGAPORE,DUBAI  etc. But recently Crafting
is becoming popular here. There are a few people who have started
selling craft supplies, but the cost goes up too high (including the
custom duties, shipping,  etc) . But I generally prefer to shop online
directly from the stores like Joanns, ohmycrafts, Simon says etc.

Where Oh Where Has Jessica Gone???

Wow, it feels like forever since
I last was able to Craft!!!
My sunburn didn't allow me to lift my arms up
even a few inches
....
But now I am back,
and very
determined to get the ball
rolling again.

In my best Ricky Ricardo voice...
"Jessica, you got a lot of catching up to do"

So tonight I made a list
to help get me back on track.
The list started with my personal
commitments and DT responsibilities!!!

The first project
I wanted to complete
was the
Fresh Brewed Designs
Facebook Challenge
going on now until midnight on July 16th

We were given this adorable image
to play with

The sentiment is
 a Unity Itty Bitty
which will soon be added
to my online collection
above.

How I Paper Pieced my images:
I started by first resizing my image in a MS Word Document.
I then pasted 4 images upon the paper
all of equal size and played with
the placement a bit to be sure they
were spread apart enough.

Then I chose my papers.
I started with a basic 8 1/2" X 11"cream card stock by Recollections.
I then adhered 4.25" squares of Kraft card stock, teal dp and dark brown dp from Crate Paper Portrait Collection to the cream card stock.
It looked a bit like this before being loaded into the printer:
A little fussy cutting, my trusty Glu Glider Pro, some Zig glue,
a bit of detail with my Water Color markers,
a tad sprinkle of Martha Stewart Tinsel-Garnet
and
VOILA!!
A finished project!

Don't forget to Hop with
this weekend!!!
It's gonna be HOT!!!
