Paper Secrets SYAO is back with Round 2

Wow, I forgot how much fun I had during the last round of Scrap Your A$$ Off at Paper Secrets.  I only lasted about 9 rounds and then I missed the deadline to continue.  That was July 2011.  There are still a few dedicated ladies working on sketches from that episode.....GO CRAFTERS, GO!

Well, the new round started this last week and the deadline is tomorrow.  I almost forgot about starting the challenge, but luckily logged into Paper Secrets earlier today and was reminded.  I have been battling with a bit of a head cold, so I apologize if my post sounds like I am rambling.

I started with designer paper I received as Blog Candy last month.  I cut a rectangular piece of Medium Chipboard and misted my handmade glimmer mist to give it some sheen.  I then took 2 copies of the Princess digi image (I received a LONG, LONG time ago as a freebie, but don't recall where) and fussy cut them to put at each end of the chipboard.  I wanted to be sure to add some "digital" element in my LO to play along with the Lasting Memories Digital Challenge and Blog Hop.

I grabbed my Unity Grab Bag full of stamps and found the circular sentiment that I stamped onto the chipboard.

Here is the sketch and itinerary we were to work with . . . .
Use at least 4 out of the 8)
ribbon/twine
3+buttons
3+flowers
rubons
3+ photo corners
3+brads
staples
altered or raw chipboard/cardboard

TECHNIQUES
(use at least 1 out of the 3)
stamping
misting
dry or heat embossing

When I gathered the pictures, re-sized them, and printed them, I didn't remember to take off the B&W print feature, so I let this miniature mistake guide me.  I love the colors turquoise and black together.  It just so happens that my daughter, McKenzie, who is the main focus of this layout, absolutely loves turquoise.  BONUS!!!   Her birthday was actually in November, but because
she was turning 16 in 2011 and because our family lives quite a distance to be driving should the weather have been bad, we held her party in the summer.

I matted all of the pictures onto black card stock.  I started by stapling my twine onto my paper.  I decided to ink a butterfly onto the chipboard using the Unity Set - Dutch Mustard Soup.  I also inked up some of the wonderful tickets in the itty bitty by Unity set - You're the Ticket.  The star image behind a few of the pics is also a goody bag/ grab bag stamp from Unity.   A little bit of extra chipboard, a few buttons and flags, and some flowers with brad centers finished off the layout.

She really had a lot of fun and I hope to do a few more layouts to capture
more wonderful moments from the party as a keepsake for her to treasure.

Thanks for visiting me and I truly want to say that I adore each and every comment I receive.  I try very hard to get to everyone who stops by and apologize if I haven't been by your blog recently.

Have a Crafty Day!
