Then JOIN IN THE FUN!!!

I have really been wanting to do some paining lately.  I hope to get some canvases out and start jamming.  Sometimes we all need that Extra "Push" to get started.  For me, I decided to spruce up my paint brush holder (which used to be a simple and tall coffee mug) that blended in with my craft table.  And, by blended in, I mean "hid" in the background.

I figured, if I created a pretty holder for my brushes, I may subliminally trigger the mojo to paint.

I started with a simple plastic tube that I had been saving to upcycle.  I am almost certain the tube was the container that my son's juggling balls came in at Christmas time.  I guess I haven't been holding onto for too long...bwahahaha.

I layered some holographic craft paper on the inside since I had decided to use some fun Crinkle Ribbon around the top and bottom edges.  I love pleating 3 Girl JAM Crinkle Ribbon on my projects, and this was just enough "fru-fru" to jazz up my holder.  I

used Cherry Lipstick on the top and Witch's Brew on the bottom.

I tied some thick twine to the Crinkle Ribbon to hang my painter's palette charm.  I left some of the twine dangling down to add some beads for adornment.

I have had these Peacock Charms for a while and decided to take it from a vintage metallic look, to a sparkling blinged out look.

I first painted a thin coat of pink acrylic paint.  When that dried, I added a layer of Stardust Stickles.  I placed some bright pink, soft blue, and purple stardust in areas of the feathers, head, and body of the peacock.  While that was drying, I grabbed my Thickers.  I spritz some of my Handmade Mists in pink, blue, and green over the letters and let them dry.

To finish the Peacock, I used a finger dauber and some mocha ink to bring out the outlines that were hidden from the paint.  I used Liquid Pearls and more Stickles to dress up the eye, body, outlines, and feathers.

Once the item dried, I used my new ***squeal*** E6000 to apply the metal peacock to a paper doily.  Then added a few paper roses to spruce it up.

Here is the paint brush hold.

The funny  part about this project, is that I was creating it to bring on the momentum I needed to start painting again.  As I started the project, I had no idea, I would be PAINTING the embellishments.  So it is ALREADY WORKING!

Thanks EVER SO MUCH

Pinque Peacock has just released a wonderful array of items for the "Peacock Beauty" New Release.  Dazzling Stick Pins and Luscious Fabric Covered Buttons.
Hop on over to the Pinque Peacock Shop and see all the beautiful items.

~ ~ ~ ~ NOW ONTO MY PROJECT ~ ~ ~ ~
For my project today, I am delighted to share my finished Altered Cotton Tote Bag (another New Item COMING SOON to the  Pinque Peacock Shop

I used a lot of supplies and techniques, so I will explain as I go along and share the images along the way, too.

I first started by stamping the Peacock (by Inkadinkadoo) using clear embossing ink, Blue Glitter embossing powder, and my heating tool.
The center flower image was stamped from the Unity KOM - 12/12 Everyday Fairytale using TH Distress Ink - Vintage Photo.  I then painted the leaves and flower petals with my Creative Inspirations Paints.  I love the sparkle and shine their paints have and they are so easy to work with.  I have tried them on several projects, and have been pleased with the result on ALL of them.

The Butterfly image was stamped from the Unity KOM - 1/12 HEART and SOUL and heat embossed with a lavendar embossing powder.

Although it is hard to tell, there is another stamp used behind the Layered Garden Beauties (larger fabric flowers available at Pinque Peacock).  It is the Circle Journaling Image with leaves.  It is from the Unity KOM - 8/09 Following my Heart.  I simply painted the leaves with some light green glitter glue.
I hot glued the peacock feather ribbon around the top of the bag opening on both the front and back side of the Cotton Tote Bag.
To add a little pizazz around each of the circles, I affixed gorgeous Flat Back Pearls, in an array of colors, that are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.  I love the vibrant and rich colors of all her pearls and adore her unbeatable prices.

The small cluster of flowers near the bottom of the Cotton Tote are all Handmade Flowers from the Pinque Peacock Shop.  A few small and medium Felt Poppers and a few small Splendid Swirls.  I added more of Miriam's Pearls to the centers. The larger flowers pictured below are the Layered Garden Beauties.
The swirl of rhinestones near the butterfly is from Want2Scrap.  I really love the effect this gives to entire design.  The small sun in the upper corner is an off brand and the round circles of rhinestones under the Splendid Swirls are by Recollections (I think).
The peacock feathers are also handmade using a few supplies (Coordinations Cardstock, Stickles, Gold Dew Drop ink, Markers, Acrylic Paint, Perfect Pearls mist, and a black jelly roll pen).

I am so glad I got the idea to add the rows of 3 Girl JAM Crinkle Ribbon under the ribbon border on the top of the bag.  I love how it brings the color palette together.  I pleated the ribbon in rows of Sunflower Yellow, Goblin Green, Ice Blue, and Witches Brew Purple.

I added a few droplets of Perfect Pearls, here and there, for added effect.

I am eager to make these Custom Decorated Cotton Tote Bags be available at the
Pinque Peacock Shop
VERY SOON

Make sure you hop over to the Craftin' Desert Divas Blog and peek in at the gorgeous Inspiration on display.  Then Link up for your Chance to Win an Amazing Prize!!!

Here is my Project that I am WAAAYYYY Excited to Share with You today!

My Handmade Hairpiece
using all sorts of Goodies from Pinque Peacock!

I have been wanting to create some new products for the Pinque Peacock Shop, and this one has been a long time in the making.

I started with a 1/8" plastic headband and some luscious London Blue Crinkle Ribbon from 3 Girl JAM to dress up the white plastic.

I made a couple of the Splendid Swirl flowers

using the Gorgeous Silk Fabric from the April New Release

and even was able to create a flower from a few pieces that didn't cut very well when I was making some Fabric Covered Buttons.
I did add a Button to the center of my "oops" flower to dress it up a little.

The peacock feather was created using  a fabulous wood block stamp that my sweet friend and Pinquette sister, Teresa K, gifted me last Christmas.

I stamped the feather using Gold Metallic Dew Drop Ink and some Coordinations Card Stock.  I lighted sprayed some Perfect Pearls Mist over the image to mimic the natural shine that a REAL Peacock Feather has.  I added details using Watercolor and Permanent Whisper Strokes Markers, Folk Art Paints, and some delicate trimming.
The fibers near the paper feather were also left over pieces (trimmings) of the Silk Fabric that I gently pulled apart and placed behind the Splendid Swirl and other Flower.

To give the Adornment Cluster on the Headband added strength, I affixed them to black felt, which was pre-cut into a large flower shape (these are used to create the Pinque Peacock, Layered Garden Beauty Flowers).

I added some Aqua Rhonestones, from Want2Scrap, to jazz up the felt and then added another layer of felt on the underneath portion of the Flower Cluster on the inside of the Hairpiece (headband).

I finished off the piece with Pearl Beaded Stick Pin, also from the New Release this month.
