Welcome to the
Grandparents Day
Blog Hop

 I am happy to be joining some wonderfully talented
ladies in this Hop
to honor all of
the Grandparents
in ours and others' lives.
This hop will showcase projects To or From
a Grandparent and will be showing off
some fantastic Cricut cuts along the way!

If you have arrived her from Heather's Blog, then you are right on track.
If you need to start
from the beginning,
please go to My Cricut Craft Room.

I, for one, didn't get the chance to learn much
of my grandparents growing up.   I do cherish the
few memories that I have kept with me over the years, though.

I never got the chance to know
my Paternal Grandfather, and my Paternal Grandmother
passed on a month after my twin sister and I were born.

My Maternal Grandfather was in a car accident when
my Mom was just a 3 year old little girl.  We never got the chance to
meet or know him.

I was BLESSED to have My Maternal Grandmother,
Grama Florence, in my life until she was stricken with Cancer,
then taken to be one of Heaven's Angels in 1983.  I was a mere 6 years old.

I do have fond memories of visits with her, playing with
her wonderful collection of paper dolls, the huge Noah's Ark, and
all the Animals climbing aboard.  I remember her soft
and gentle voice still to this day.
 Grama Florence had remarried before I was born,
and I was fortunate to
know her second husband as my one and only
Grandfather,  Grampa Danny.

Here is a picture of the
two of them together during their Hay Days!

I have longed to learn so much about my family history
since I grew up not knowing many details.  I have learned a great deal from my
exploration at Ancestry.com and have enjoyed finding out some really fun facts
regarding my ancestors, their travels, and their families.

Grandparents should be recognized every day, but especially
on this day, because they are the
true backbone
to our futures.
The lessons, morals, and manners
that they taught to their children
will forever live on through the legacy of what we,
as Parents now, teach our own Children.

My Mother, who I am recognizing today with my first project for this Hop,
is a Mother of 13 Children,
a Grandmother of 26 GrandChildren,
and a
Great-Grandmother of 9 Great GrandChildren.
 (And that is not counting spouses...LOL)

She is the most caring and gentlest soul I know
and I find myself repeating her
words of advice to others on a daily basis.

Happy Grandparent's Day
to you Mom!
We Love You!

For my project, I used the Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge
for the first time.
I love the sweet little envelope and cards
you can make using the fun Foundation Keys.
I can see this will easily become a favorite
cartridge for me in the near future.

My mom is a HUGE Ohio State Buckeyes fan,
so I chose to use
their Team Colors on her card.

I started by cutting the mini envelope and cards/tags at 6" from
Gray Texture Card Stock (by Darice)
using the Foundation Key on the cartridge.

I then grabbed some red and white card stock
from my scraps (trying to use these up as much as possible).
The pattern paper is Colorbok Neutrals Stack.
I added a bit of Barn Door Distress Ink to the edges
and pieced it all together.

The mailbox was cut at 2" from all the coordinating papers
and card stock.  I added the same Barn Door Ink
then used a Red Permanent Whisper Strokes
Marker to draw the inner lines.

 The cards/tags were cut using the
Foundation Key on Doodlecharms
cut at 6" (5 tags, one for each child
to write a special message to Grama Rochelle)
The envelope charm was also cut at 2".  I layered
3 charm cuts (2 with the envelope and 1 solid circle)
together and punched a hole in
each of the card/tags.  The red brad is from my stash.

 The Bows and envelope knot were created using
Holly Berry Crinkle Ribbon
from the Winter Bundle at 3 Girl JAM
and my Handy 3 Girl JAM Bow Maker.
It really helps to make such luscious and perfect bows
each and every time!

The sentiment was created using some Alpha Stickers (silver)
and a white gelly roll pen to outline and
emphasize the sentiment against the glossy background.

The stamped background on the card
is from the Unity Stamp July 2012 KOM - {Ol' Bag of Fun}
 I first inked it with Versa Mark Champagne Dazzle
and heat embossed with a red embossing powder.

I am also honoring my dear Step Father, "Pappy Jack" .
He is the epitome of sweetness and has been a huge
staple in my life as the only Father Figure I really had growing up.
I love when we go to visit and the kids get
excited to see "Happy Jack" (they are still
learning how to say Pappy...LOL)

Here is the card we created for him

The only Cricut cut I needed for this card was
the Number Sign #, which was
cut from Jubilee Cricut cartridge at 2".
The background was created with a grab bag
stamp I received from Unity and some TH Vintage Photo ink.
The sentiment across the rectangle was created
with the same ink and stamp, as well as
some alpha stickers (to spell "IS") and the Number 1 (one) from
a Unity Stamp set called Advent.
Papers were from MME Stella and Rose and EP This and  That

Theme Day Thursday - FALL Foliage

Welcome To

Today's Theme
at My Cricut Craft Room
is
~~~~~Fall Foliage~~~~~
I was lucky enough to find an amazing deal on some
Composition Notebooks last week
at my local Best Buy
10 cents each!!!
Yep, I bought all they had in stock. . . 48 notebooks for $4.80 - SCORE!!!
I was so very eager to start
altering one.
I decided I would use this week's theme
at
My Cricut Craft Room
as my inspiration.
 I had an idea for the Title of my Idea Journal
instantly come to mind with the theme
of Fall Foliage, too. . .
sharing that later in the post!
I decided to start by perusing through
ALL of my scrap papers
and choosing out some fun
fall crispy colors to work with
for my Journal.
If you are anything like me, I was able to find
some pre-cut shapes
that were left overs
and some fun pattern papers, too.
I wanted to make a neat flower from a tutorial
that Heather Lynn shared with me last week.
She even gave me some pieces of fabric
to play with as I tried out the technique.
 Thanks Heather!
I took the strip of yellow fabric and adhered
some Frost King double sided adhesive
(this is the roll that comes with window winterizing kits at your
local hardware or DIY store).
I ran my heat gun along the strip before peeling the
paper backing off, for extra "stickiness"
then folded the fabric in half to bring
the two sides together.
 I then cut two strips at a little over 12" long.
(final dimensions 12.5" by 1")
The technique suggests you make small slits about
1/4" to 1/2" apart along the length
of your fabric.
 I prepared a 2" circle for the finished flower to
rest upon and got out some
other supplies I knew I would
be needing for this project.
I wanted to spruce up my fabric
with a little bit of
Olive Green Smooch Spritz first.
I then let that dry, while I began working on
the remainder of my project.
Once you are finished making your slits, and adding smooch if you desire,
 you can then roll the strip inwards to create the flower
and adhere it to you pre-cut circle base.
I placed a large Craft Glu Dot
in the center and pierced it with
the leaf brad you see above.
Before applying the flower, I wanted to create
a "grassy knoll" area on my journal.
The fibers you see here, are a fun
crafty score from Goodwill.
I simply added strips
of the Frost  King adhesive to the bottom portion
of the front of the book.
 I then twirled the fibers into small loops and
pressed down firmly until
the entire area was covered.
I applied my large flower using my glue gun.
I added a bit of the same Smooch Spritz
to some plain white card stock and hung that to dry as well.
The square was about 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" in dimension.
I grabbed a fun frame that I had kept in my scraps, that just happened
to be the same dimension.
The frame was a left over negative space scrap from a
Lacy Labels Cartridge Cut
for a previous project.
This was used as an overlay to my smooched white paper.
I was hoping to have a fun Fall Sky background when I was finished so I could
begin to add my Fall Foliage cuts.
 I used my Serenade Cartridge to cut the fun tree
at 4 1/2" in height.
The leaves were cut from Flower Shoppe Cartridge
at 2 1/2" each.
I sprayed them with some Smooch and inked
the edges with some TH Distress Ink - Vintage Photo.
The alpha stickers are by Webster's Pages and I added some
white jelly pen around each letter for
better  visibility.
 The rhinestone sunburst in the corner was smooched
and sat off to the side to dry
before applying behind the leaf.
I grabbed a bit of other fibers that
I got during the same trip to Goodwill, made a fun
pom pom and adhered this all to the journal
as an attached book marker.
For the inside of my Journal,
I added some yellow card stock and a few Fall stickers
I  had in my stash.  I thought the fun
label sticker would be a great
place to write in
This Book Belongs To Jessica!
The green piece of card stock peeking out
was also a left over scrap from a prior Lacy Labels Cricut cut.
I added 2 brown Making Memories eyelets to the
front cover and back cover of the journal.
I then fed some Cappucino Twinery Twine
through and tied it in a bow.
It is nice to have a closure on your
book if you add elements that make it somewhat bulky
(like my bookmark you see below)
Here is the finished journal.
The title reads
"let the ideas fall"
Thank you so much for stopping by
today.  Be sure to head over to
My Cricut Craft Room
to see all of the other wonderful
projects my DT Sisters
have created.
Happy Birthday Card with 3 Girl JAM
Happy Tuesday Blends
I get so excited when it is
my day to share
a fun project
using 3 Girl JAM products.
Here is the HAPPY Birthday Card
I created for today using
several colors of  Crinkle Ribbon.
I used:
Goblin Green, Tuxedo Black, Daffodil, Ice Blue,  and, Sterling
The pattern papers were all from a $1 pack I purchased at
Target a while back, with the exception of the
White Card Stock base by Recollections.
The Ferris Wheel Image is stamp from a
Unity Stamp Co.
Exclusive Store Kit (8/2009)
called 100% Happiness.
 After inking it with Black Versa Mark then heat embossing with a shiny
black embossing powder, I cut the square and started
to do some inking in the background.
I used Rubber Stampede ink pads (Orange, Butter Cream, and Turquoise)
and my trusty finger daubers to blend it all together.
I colored each "car" on the wheel with my
Permanent Whisper Stroke Markers.
I went back in and used my white gel pen
to highlight portions of each car
and then outlined the ferris wheel frames with
some Studio G - Clear Glitter Glue.
The pearl in the center was from my stash.
I chose to use the
Happy Birthday
sentiment
from a Unity grab bag
for the inside
of my card
with coordinating
pattern papers!
I again added a little bit of the Clear Glitter glue around
the circular sentiment.
 I hope you enjoy my card
and be sure to stop
to see all of the wonderful
work the DT has been creating lately.
Then be sure to stop over
to the
3 Girl JAM Shop
to stock
up on your ribbons for the Holidays!
When you place your
Halloween Spooktacular Banners Hop
Welcome to DAY 2
of the
Halloween Spooktacular Banners
for Special Needs Kids
Blog Hop
If you missed Day 1,
Please start -HERE-
Welcome to the annual
Halloween Spooktacular Banner Hop
for Special Needs Children!
I am delighted to join with more than 3 dozen other women
who have each made at least one Halloween-themed banner
that will be donated to hang in the room of a
medically-fragile child at Pediatric Specialty Care in Pennsylvania.
Our Hop Hostess (Ellen CardMonkey Jarvis) works at
PSC’s Bucks County site as Admissions Coordinator.
The Banner Hop starts there, so please be sure to circle back to the beginning
to see all of the terrific banners that
have been made for these very special children.
Ellen shared this information with us about Pediatric Specialty Care:
“PSC is a very special place where children stay either long- or short-term, typically after hospitalization.  Most are dependent on ventilators and other technology to survive. Some have been born too early or with genetic diseases or birth injuries.  Other children suffer injuries later in life that require constant care later, including brain injuries from trauma or loss of oxygen (from choking, suffocation or drowning) and spinal cord injuries.
These children and their families -- and PSC’s staff -- will be thrilled to receive the Halloween banners, to help brighten the season when their friends and siblings will be out trick-or-treating.”
Here is the banner I am sending to a child at PSC:
All of the wonderful little Halloween Children/Characters
were cut using the Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge.
The Backgrounds behind each character
were cut from the Cricut Lacy Labels Cartridge.
The panels/pennants for each character on the banner
were also cut from Cricut Lacy Labels Cartridge.
Some added details
were added to the backgrounds
using my Big Shot and the following embossing folders:
Darice - Argyle
Cuttlebug - Textile
Sizzix (Tim Holtz) - Burlap
Sizzix (Tim Holtz) -Swirls
Each of the white panels has some stamped sentiments and images on them.
All the stamping was from the
Crafty Secrets Clear  Art Stamps - Halloween Fun
 I then added some Twinery Twine through
the eyelets and tied a few strands to dangle between each panel.
TwineryTwine used:
Charcoal and Tangerine
I also added small bows using my
3 Girl JAM Mistletoe Crinkle Ribbon
(Huge Sale @ 3 Girl JAM this weekend through Monday)
This Hop is two days (Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2),
and on each day you will see different banners.
Be sure to visit on both days to see the truly inspirational work of these generous bloggers,
and leave some love (comments) on as many sites
